socksthecatThere’s A Book is focused primarily on younger readers all the way up to young adults and carrying that excitement for reading starts when you are young. We all start somewhere right? For me it was Socks by Beverly Cleary, as a child I can vividly remember carrying this book with me everywhere I went (the car, the store, my room, school, you name it!). I didn’t continue that love through my high school years, primarily because of a disinterest in the books we were “required” to read, but have fallen in love with books all over again with the birth of my two children. But I think it’s important to share what got us started, because it sticks with us forever!

The Plan:

Each Wednesday I will feature a new book lover and where/how they got there start reading! In the past this has primarily been book bloggers, but I know there are others out there who might not be book bloggers/reviewers that have a fabulous story to share.

What I Need:

I need you to fill out the form below and I will get in touch shortly (usually within a day or two). My feature slots are currently wide open, but filling up quickly so if you have a specific day you’d like to have me coordinate around (because of a giveaway or such) just let me know.

What’s In It For You:

A feature spot for the entire 24 hours on There’s A Book! Including images, interview, mention of a giveaway (if applicable) and a short review of the book that got you started. Here are a few we’ve done in the past to get a “feel” for what to expect:

I love getting to know more book lovers and I can’t wait to hear from you! Make sure to fill out the form and I’ll get right back to you!

I’m so curious to see what people write about how they got started reading. As a teacher, I encourage my students to read. It’s hard sometimes if their family life doesn’t really promote reading. I wish I could figure out the secret to creating lifelong, voracious readers…I’m starting to think there are so many things that factor in, but I so wish there was one trick…

    • I do have a few of these that I’ve done in the past if you’re interested in reading them they are under the “When I Was Young” category in the side bar. Definitely worth reading!

As for the secret for life long reading…if you figure that one else you could probably make a lot of money. Everyone is so different, but I think one of the keys is definitely starting young. And then, give them books they love. Nothing turns away a future reader like being forced to read something they can’t stand over and over again.

Definitely spreading the word on this great feature. I love learning about other book lovers (bloggers or not) and seeing where they got their start. You never know what you’ll read next (or want to read!). ^_^
