So, it’s been a couple of weeks, my head is out of the clouds and I’m pretty sure I can think straight now. I thought maybe this would be a good time to give my brief recap of the wonder and awe that was the LA Times Festival of Books! Unfortunately my trip was cut to just one day, but it was still inspiring nonetheless. So here goes, a few things I enjoyed/loved/can’t wait for/you get the idea…
- I’m really looking forward to not being so anxious about “meeting” all the fantastic book bloggers in the future! I was beyond intimidated getting ready to meet some of the most impressive and respected people I associate with online. But of course, they were all amazing, friendly and even better in real life! I can’t wait to see everyone again!
- Panels! Oh my! Panels! For those of you who don’t know, at the FoB you are able to sit down and watch a conversation with some of your favorite authors, live, all for a dollar! Can you believe it? I had such a hard time picking which ones to go to, but by the end I’m so glad I saw who I did.
- Funniest thing learned: How to pronounce Jon Scieszka’s last name, finally! From none other than the wonderful illustrator, David Shannon himself, who was hilarious by the way!
- Most amazing part of the day: The “Tween the Lines” panel where I watched on as a myriad of 9-12 year olds got up to ask D.J. MacHale, Gordon Korman, Neal Shusterman and Pseudonymous Bosch any question they could think of. If you think Middle Grade fiction is just “for tweens” and not popular, think again! These were the MOST amazing fans I have ever seen before, for anything. End of story. Inspiring.
- More than anything I want to inspire my Littlebug and Turkeybird to dream and go after what they dream of with all their hearts knowing I’m right behind them. Thanks to David Shannon, Kadir Nelson and Pam Munoz Ryan.
In the end, it was a perfect day full of books, authors and a lot of dreaming. Maybe someday in the future far from now you’ll be able to sit and watch me chat it up with some other brilliant people. Who knows? It could happen, right? Until next year…
Not Going to BEA this year? Why not join us for Arm Chair BEA?
During the week of the big Book Expo America event in New York some of us book bloggers who aren’t going to be able to make it this year (maybe next) decided, why should we miss out on the fun? Yay! I’m having a hard time thinking creatively on ways to participate right now, but I’m signing up anyway. If anyone has any suggestions for me, I’m all ears!

Oh, I’m sure we will come up with something for you! Thanks for signing up! It’s going to be great!
I’m not sure exactly how I’ll participate either, but I’m so disappointed that I am unable to go to BEA and to the Book Bloggers Convention. So I must do something to participate in this online substitute.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who posted about FoB two weeks later!
Hey, I have some books that I can donate to the giveaway cause…but I don’t want to do the giveaway on my blog. I’ll email you.

I’m a first time author with Publish America and I’m waiting for my book release of “South African Voodoo in the Spiriit of God” (Fiction) by: EJ Webb summer 2010 and I’m focusing on marketing and promoting as my mainb objecgtive. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I wish I was going to the real BEA! Well, maybe next year.
I’ll sign up to be a spectator for the Armchair BEA (great idea, by the way), but I’ll have to play it by ear and see how the timing works out. I’ll at least do a post about it.
