It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (25)
July 25th, 2010 by the1stdaughter
This fabulous weekly recap is hosted by Shelia of One Persons Journey Through a World of Books. Each week we recap what we’ve read and look at what’s coming up this week. If you’re interested head over to Shelia’s site and get involved! It’s a blast and I may even stop by to see what you’re up to!
Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:
This week was good, busy for more reasons than you can probably believe, but in the end it was a pretty good week. Unfortunately, early in the week we learned of the death of a close family friend and were able to travel to the funeral over the weekend. Because the family friend was on my husband’s side of the family and a long funeral service is not conducive to two small toddlers, I stayed home and sent my husband to the funeral with his family. The service was nice and I’m glad we live close enough to have been able to attend.
What traveling over the weekend meant for me, besides seeing family and taking care of the kiddos (normal), was that I had to host the Got Books? Event via lap top at my in-laws home. Whoa. A little bit of a challenge, but all in all I feel it went really well. We had around 100 sites participating and a very successful Twitter Party on Friday. It’s definitely an event I can’t wait to do again!
So, how was your week?

Here’s what I’m reading this week. I haven’t reviewed any of the books I finished last week. My reviews lag far behind my reading, sadly.

Wow..What an exciting reading list! I see Sisters Red! Hope you have lovely Monday!
Some of my favorite children’s books are by Jon Sciezka (Do we have the spelling right? I always get it wrong). Have you tried The Math Curse, and the Science Verse? of course, those are really for older kids (grade 3 and up). But he has so many funny books out – like the True Story of the Three Little Pigs, Cowboy and Octopus, Baloney Henry P., The Book that Jack Wrote, etc. He is truly a funny man. Some of those books will be great for your kids when they’re around four and of course older. He also has a series of books about Monster Truck Max for ages 3-6. (Trucktown) You might already know this, but I tend to get carried away about this guy.
I also have fun reading David Shannon’s books to the children at school, and would love to buy some for the grandchildren. My favorite is A Bad Case of Stripes, No David! and How I became a Pirate. There’s a board book titled David Smells! – something to do with diapers, I’m sure. LOL
Tonight my granddaughter and I had a late night of reading books – “We” read the Paper Bag Princess, Out of the Ocean and a few others. Fun night.

Wow! As I’m cruising round the Monday mem, I’m starting to feel that the two books I read last week are a little lame. Everyone else seems to be reading 5 or more books!

I LOVE the cover for Arson. Not sure what that says about me and my dark side, but just had to say that. I am sorry for the any loss in a family, but grateful that you got the “award” for being most dedicated for attending the chat with the wee ones.
Are we still doing the switch with Lydia on Friday? I haven’t had a chance to check in with her yet and just noticed it on my editorial calender.
