Hodge Podge: Book Blogger Happenings

September 1st, 2010 by the1stdaughter

With quite a lot going on in the Book Blogosphere I thought I would take a minute to let you all know about a few important events you shouldn’t miss. I’m very excited for each one, so make sure that you stop by and participate in whatever way you feel you can.

Pam from Bookalicio.us happens to be one of my favorite book bloggers out there. She has fantastic taste in books, wonderful reviews and is always thinking on her toes, constantly on the look out for the next “hot topic”. Take for example her recent post, “Welcome to Bookalicious Concerned Mothers of Christian Teens!“, it definitely goes down as one of my all-time favorites.

So, when Pam asked if I would come up with a post for her newest endeavor, “Censorship Week”, I couldn’t refuse. With all of the talk going on recently it’s been on my mind quite a bit and her request was definitely timely.

Interested in seeing what I had to say? Take a look at my post, “Censorship and My Children” up now at Bookalicio.us!

The Cybils Awards are an online celebration of the best in Children’s and Young Adult Literature for any given year. The books are nominated through October and then judged by a panel of bloggers with the winning announcement coming in February of the following year.

It’s an incredible honor to participate in the Cybils Awards, even if you’re only nominating a book you love that was published that year. You never know, it might just win!

They’ve recently announced an open Call for Judges and almost anyone who reviews on a book blog is welcome to submit to participate. Make sure to read all of the instructions before doing so! I for one am excited to see what is selected this year and hope to have the opportunity to participate as much as possible. How about you? Will you be throwing your hat in the ring?

Last, but certainly not least, is the Help A Charity and Win Tons of Books event. Put together by three lovely ladies in the book blogging world, it’s one you don’t want to miss! Quoted from Random Ramblings:

The main reason we came up with this event is because we genuinely want to help others in need. We know the three of us can not do this alone, and so that is why we decided to reach out to you. We figured the best way we could go about doing this is to ask this amazing book blog community to join and cooperate together for a great cause. With as little as 50 cents, $1, or perhaps more, it will eventually add up and we might be able to give something substantial. The proceeds benefiting both First Book and Save the Children.

Make sure to stop by anyone of these fantastic blogs for more details and to help in whatever way you can!
