Top 10 Books: Children’s Picture Books

Each year comes out with a Top Ten List for almost anything you can think of. From books to kitchen appliances, their editors have tried them all and now make their choices. You may or may not agree, but I’m sure it most likely still influences some sales. So, today I’m bringing you the results of their choices for Top Children’s Picture Books and Monday and Tuesday I’ll bring you Middle Grade and Young Adult.

I’d love to hear your opinions! What do you think of their choices and also, what do you think about “awards” in general? Would you buy a book based off of an awards list? Which one(s)?

  1. So far, with out looking inside, I like 6 & 7 šŸ™‚

  2. Raquel says:

    I agree with #5 and #6 for sure! šŸ™‚

  3. Teresa says:

Is it wrong that I’ve not heard of any of these. My little monkey reads a lot of the books that my husband and I enjoyed when we were kids.

  4. Gina says:

Honestly…award lists do not make or break a book for me. It may give me pause to consider something I hadn’t seen before, but beyond that….nothing much. As for the list released from Amazon, let’s see….they all have the whimsical quality one looks for in a picture book, but I have to say my fav cover is the DOG LOVES BOOKS. Betcha didn’t see that one coming now did ya? LOL. ^_^

  5. Janelle says:

We’ve read over half of them – #1, #2, #3, #4, #7 and #9. Several good titles on this list, but I wonder how they decide which ones are the best of the year? Art & Max by David Wiesner is an amazing book, and I’d recommend it. I always try to view books before I purchase because just because someone else likes the book does not mean my kids or I will have the same opinion.

  6. Looks like more books to read – I haven’t read any of these. Wow! We just Clever Jack Takes the Cake
by Candace Fleming this week. It was well done.

  7. City Dog Country Frog looks so CUTE! I definitely want to read that one. = )

  8. Wow, don’t know a single one. Will have to check them out.
