There's A Book

Believe it or not, I really love listening to audio books. It’s easy for me to do while I’m finishing up things on the computer or around the house and often in the car. This challenge was a no-brainer for me since I also have a membership with Audible.com as well.

So, here’s a look at the rules from Teresa’s site Teresa’s Reading Corner

The 2011 Audio Book Challenge will run from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011. I’m going to go ahead and continue with the same levels that were previously established:

Curious: 3 Audio Books
Fascinated: 6 Audio Books
Addicted: 12 Audio Books
Obsessed: 20 Audio Books

Choose your level of participation and add your name.  Over the course of the year I’m going to try to put together some fun things.  If you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know.

Now, I’ve been slacking on listening to my audiobooks recently and I’ve allowed my credits over at Audible.com to pile up. So, I’m going for the gusto with this challenge and choosing the “Addicted” level. Wish me luck! I’ve really got to buckle down for this challenge because it’s one I often forget about until the last minute, though it’s super easy to accomplish while I’m doing other tasks like cleaning. So I’m determined to complete this one!

Here are a few of the books on my list to listen to (or even just finish up listening to):
1. The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
2. Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman
3. Judy Moody & Stink: The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt by Megan McDonald
4. Judy Moody & Stink: The Holly Joliday by Megan McDonald

The remainder are to-be-determined. As I said, I have quite a few credits to use, so I could really listen to almost anything. Any recommendations? Great narrators you think I can’t miss?

  1. I am so glad you posted this one I was actually thinking about trying to create this challenge but was bit weary of doing it, so when I read your post and found Teresa had already done this I was ecstatic. Thanks and good listening in 2011

Wow! I think this is a challenge that I could do myself. I’m listening to Beat the Band by Don Calame right now and I plan to read some more Candlewick on Brilliance Audio titles. I have a 1 hour round trip commute, 5 days a week so that’s 5 hours of reading per week. With each audio book being about 10 hours on average, I think I could definitely do this challenge (at the Obsessed level) in a year.

    Thanks for posting it!

Knife of Never Letting Go was so awesome on audio. I’m a big fan of the narrator!

I am already Obsessed and this will be a walk in the park. I always, always have an audio book. Just finishing up 100 Cupboards by N. D. Wilson. Listened to that while packing up Christmas decorations.

Next up is The Magician’s Elephant by Kate DiCamillo. I understand the reading of this book by Juliet Stevenson makes it even better. I love DiCamillo’s works.

Last’s years best audio (for me) was The Help. Southern accents are so much more fun to “listen” to than to “read”.. Same went for The Secret Life of Bees. The audio was so much better by far than reading the book.

I request my audio books from our public library. Sometimes I have to wait quite a while, but I always have a request list going, so they come in pretty regularly. Saves money.

  5. Thanks for letting me know about this – I love audio and really think tis is a challenge for me ;)
