There's A Book

Ten on the Sled by Kim Norman and Illustrated by Liza Woodruff

Published by Sterling Children’s Books

Pages: 24

Ages: 3 and up.

Publishers Summary: Author Kim Norman (Crocodaddy) and illustrator Liza Woodruff have whipped up a rollicking, jolly, snow-filled adventure!
In the land of the midnight sun, all the animals are having fun speeding down the hill on Caribou’s sled. But as they go faster and faster, Seal, Hare, Walrus, and the others all fall off…until just Caribou’s left, only and lonely. Now, a reindeer likes flying-but never alone, so…one through ten, all leap on again!

The Turkeybird Speaks: “One…Two…Three…Whoosh! Haha! Bump! Oh no! Don’t fall off! Uh oh!

“Okay, sorry, I just was really into this book. It’s so funny because all the funny animals keep getting on and falling off the sled. Up and down all the way to ten and back. It’s great! Of course my mom always laughs because I usually go too far over ten, but I can’t help it. Once I get started with my numbers I can’t stop!

“Now, if only I could get a sled of my own, some snow and probably a really warm coat I’d take Littlebug with me on an adventure!”

Mom’s Two Cents: “Stuck inside with piles of snow outside your front door? Why not enlist the help of a silly Caribou, a reindeer, maybe a seal or a walrus and spend the day sledding and falling in and out of the snow? Of course you’ll also need to count the number of participants to make it extra fun and of course, silly. When it’s all said and done you’ll be sure to have just as much fun as the dynamic cast of characters in Kim Norman’s latest, Ten on the Sled.

“This is just the book for these cold winter months. Perfect for cuddling, reading and counting. Kiddos will love the comical cast of characters and especially the added bonus of counting each as they fall off one at a time. This truly is one of those reads that both Littlebug and Turkeybird ask for over and over, each counting as fast as they can up and down to ten. Well, and then some, of course and the Turkeybird mentioned. Ten on the Sled is just the book for beginning counters and little ones who love to laugh.”

The1stdaughter Recommends: Ages 2 and up. Perfect fun helping kiddos learn to count to ten and enjoy the winter time as well.

Aw…now this one just looks so cute! A great little adventure for a snowy day indeed…thanks for the share!

  2. How sweet!
Makes me want to go sledding.
Did you know I’ve never been sledding?
I grew up in Florida mostly, so I’ve never done it.
When we were in a snowy place, it was in the city where there was no safe place to sled.
Maybe now that we’re moving somewhere cold I will get to try it.

Looks like a good one! May be one to add to my list of must haves for my nephew…he is my little bookworm!
