There's A Book

We all leave our “footprint” on the world, in one way or another. We each, individually, do something or are someone that makes the world a little better just by being here. I created this weekly meme to get to know the blogging community I love just a bit better. To know what makes them tick, outside of books, that is. Each week I will post a question to be answered in the following week’s “A Bit of Me(Me)”. Check back each Saturday to get the info for next week’s post and link up with your current post right here.

I know, some of you are skeptical about putting yourself out there on the internet and I completely respect that. That’s the entire reason I have no desire to ever reveal the “real” names of The Turkeybird and Littlebug. In time, once they’re old enough, if they chose to do that on their own I will respect their decision. So, if ever during the time I’m doing this meme do you feel the question is just too personal for your liking, feel free to post something else, I never want anyone to feel uncomfortable with what they share and I promise it will always be “kid-friendly”. I mean, this is a primarily children’s and young adult site, you know?

So, let’s get started!

This Weeks Question: What’s your favorite color? Or maybe you have multiple favorites, which ones? Be creative with how you tell us if you have time.

Sorry about posting so late this week! Things got a bit crazy and I’m a bit behind. But here goes!

I have three favorite colors right now, and oddly enough you can find them all in this picture my mom took from her property in Arizona not too long ago…

Isn’t it gorgeous? Just beautiful! And it has my three favorites…

Blue – because it reminds me of my husband and the way the color lights up his face because of his eyes.

Brown – because it comes from the earth. It’s calming to me for some reason and helps me to feel more settled.

Green – my reason for this one, my Littlebug’s current favorite color is “green.” It doesn’t matter what it’s real color might be, it’s green. And I love that about her personality, she’s right, even though she really does know it’s wrong. Kind of funny.

It’s funny to me that all three colors that are my favorites right now all come from the earth in some way, because if I’m being honest…I hate being outdoors for an extended period of time. I’m just not a dirt and bugs and no shower type of girl. I’m definitely not a camper. But what can I say? I can still appreciate a good hike and the sense of being at peace in a calming environment. Perfect.

Now, your turn! Link up below and tell everyone “A Bit of You!”

Next Week’s Question: What is the single best trip you’ve ever taken?

Have a question to add? I’d love some suggestions! Just leave them in the comments and I’ll see about adding them in as we go!

Also, feel free to grab either of the buttons for your own “A Bit of Me(Me)” post (or create your own), but make sure to link back to There’s A Book. (You can also resize these down to a smaller size if you’d like.)

  1. I love your description of blue!!!

  2. Question: Does your mom live near Sedona? We visited two years ago and it’s beautiful. The colors are so breathtaking.

Some of my pictures are soooo vivid that people asked me if I altered them. The answer: nope! It really is that orange and that blue.

    Great question!

My favorite colors are usually shades: I love black (it calms me and I feel most at home wearing black), chocolate brown (peaceful), blue (ahhhhh I can get lost in blues), and pinks.

    • It’s actually a little southeast of Sedona, closer to Snowflake, but still about the same landscape. Just gorgeous! My mom’s pictures are very similar, hardly any touching up at all.

Love your picks! I’ve actually become more and more fond of pinks with the addition of my daughter to the family. Before I wasn’t such a huge fan. She’s changed me. 🙂

Brown & green are my favorites. Green is such an energizing color for me. It feels so clean and fresh. Brown is very grounding and calming for me. I know…I should tell you this in my own entry but I was up all night with a little one 🙁

  4. Someone mentioned Sedona…and that’s what I thought of when you posted about Arizona. I LOVE the colors in Red Rock Country and have vacationed there a few times.

I love vivid colors….reds, purples, yellows, greens, blues….the rainbow!

  5. Black is Beautiful!

Funny story about color. When my daughter was three we lived in North Carolina and she was invited to a yoga birthday party with lots of little girls. They each rolled out their mats and the instrutor asked them to go around the room and say their name and their favorite color. All the parents were watching as the girls took turns saying pink, purple, red. When it got to be my daughter’s turn she said so proudly…. My name is Faith and my favorite color is Black! That’s my girl.

  6. What a lovely photograph 🙂 And such great choices too!

I’m totally not a camper either. Whenever people ask if I like camping, I explain “I am too old and make too much money to go pretend I’m homeless.” I like hiking, camp fires, and even being outside for awhile. But I want running water, electricity, and a real bed to sleep in at night 🙂

    • LOL I LOVE that quote! I may have to steal it for future conversations. 😉 I feel exactly the same way you do. I’ve paid good money for my comfy bed and warm sheets to deny myself of them.

  7. I have trouble deciding on color. I keep changing the colors on my website BookBlogFun. When I first joined the MotherReader Comment Challenge it was more purple and now it is kind of auqua/tan??? http://www.bookblogfun.doodlekit.com

I recently started my blogspot BookBlogStuff so that I could have a place to discuss more of my feelings and issues around books and reading. And that blog is black and white.

So, it is no wonder why I can’t choose a color or two that are my favorite right now. I do really appreciate the idea of posting questions for us book bloggers to get to know each other better. I also thank you for stating that the questions will be kid friendly. I have come across so many interesting book related blogs and each have their own twist or focus. I started BookBlogFun because I want kids involved. Sometimes there are posts or issues being discussed that I feel are not quite appropriate for the kids at BookBlogFun. Those issues I can address at BookBlogStuff.

    • I agree. Some of the book blogs out there do discuss some more mature themes, but there are definitely plenty out there that discuss kiddo related stuff. It’s wonderful! I love all the variety available. 🙂
I won’t promise to always talk about kid stuff in all of my posts, because I do review YA books, but children’s books are definitely more of my focus. With two kids of my own I wanted a place to share the struggles and joys I had in finding the right books for them. It’s been fantastic and I’m sure you’ll love it as well! Welcome welcome! 🙂

  8. Gina says:

Nice choices…I can see why you love those so much. My favorite is blue…it’s my go to color too (well that and khaki…). ^_^

  9. MillyMarie says:

lol We have the same favorite colors and almost for the same reasons. That picture is beautiful! I’d love to visit Arizona someday – if they have any cool days that is? 😉 BTW: I think it’s so sweet the color blue reminds you of your husbands eyes. 😀

    • Thanks! I don’t why, but it’s something that has always stood out to me. 🙂

Arizona, in the northern part actually gets quite cool. During the winter it actually snows near where my parents are. So not too bad. 🙂

  10. Elisa says:

My all time favorite colors as an adult are red and black. Red reminds me of the need to remain true to my beliefs. It’s fiery, active, and can be explosive. I need to make sure that the explosions are channelled properly but red reminds me to be assertive when I need to be in order not to compromise my principles and sense of self. Black symbolizes strength and solidity. Red and black remind me to stand firm and true to my beliefs and to speak out, write out, and shout out, if necessary, what counts; as a teacher this is all about kids.

When I was younger my favorite color was pink. As an adult I still like pink. Although it’s no longer my favorite color, I like it because it reminds me of brightness, possibility, and hope. I like the fact that there are so many shades of pink and if you go from light to dark (shades of emotions, actions, etc) you can end up at red.

  11. I love this question and I love the colors of Arizona. For years and years, we’d go up to Sedona and Prescott and always those colors blue, green and brown made me feel nourished. Also, the red of the rocks was beautiful and restorative. 🙂

  12. Jenni Elyse says:

That picture really is pretty. I love the desert! The colors are beautiful. My favorite color is lavender. I love all forms of purple, really, but lavender is my favorite. I also love the combination of purple, green, and blue together! I think they’re beautiful together. I also love brown and love it with any color.

    • Oh! Guess what my parent’s property is primarily for? Their lavender farm! That’s kind of funny. 🙂 It’s such a gorgeous color, that and bluebonnets (mostly in Texas) are my favorite flowers. Though, unfortunately, I’m allergic to both. Boo!
