There's A Book

Book Publishers 101 is a new feature here at There’s A Book! Each month we will spend an entire month highlighting one of our favorite book publishers. What this means for you…a chance to get to know a publisher you may have not known before with a “behind the scenes” look, an opportunity to “link-up” posts you might have from the featured publisher, guest posts, author interviews, a look at their newest titles and of course a chance to win some great books! We know you will enjoy getting to know these amazing publishers and hope that you’ll learn something you may have not already known!

Our Publisher 101 Featured Publisher for the month of February is:

Candlewick Press has long been a favorite of our family. Because of that I was beyond thrilled they agreed to be featured here at There’s A Book. I’m truly hoping that all of my readers enjoy what we’ve got planned for the month and also possibly add to their TBR piles because of it! So, a little about why we love Candlewick Press so much…

First off, I have to brag about one of my favorite thing about Candlewick Press’s books…many of their children’s books don’t have book jackets! So, some of you may think this is no big deal, but I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in what I like to call the “book jacket haters club.” Well, I’m not a member, but Littlebug certainly is. As soon as a picture book arrives home with a book jacket, it is promptly removed (by Littlebug) and handed over to me for safe keeping. Yes, it’s a sad state. Well, when I discovered that Candlewick didn’t have book jackets on many of their children’s picture books (not all mind you) I was beyond thrilled. Even more so, I was thrilled that the quality of the book wasn’t compromised because of it. They are still stunning and gorgeous books that I absolutely adore having in our library.

Outside of their intelligent choice with picture book jackets, we’ve also fallen in love with many of their authors and illustrators. One of our all time favorites (and one we’ll be talking to later this month in fact) is John Lechner, his Sticky Burr series is one of the first Candlewick books we reviewed here and it all started with a fabulous book trailer! Also, Patrick Ness, Y.S. Lee, Kate DiCamillo, Brian Yansky, Cynthia Leitich Smith, Alethea Kontis and Alison Croggon are among some of our absolute favorite authors – all of which have been published by Candlewick Press at some point.

So needless to say, we love Candlewick Press and think you should too! We’ve got some incredible things going on this month and I truly hope you enjoy all of the reviews, interviews, guest posts, behind-the-scenes info and giveaways we’ve got planned. Just take a look!

It’s funny that you’re posting about Candlewick this week because I have read more and more books that I looooooove and then realize they are Candlewick books. They have some amazing books out there…and the ones you posted aren’t even ones I’m familiar with! I’m looking forward to the rest of the month!

    • I LOVE their books! I had a similar thing happen as well. It seemed like every time I was turning around there was another book of theirs I had happened to pick up. Just really great authors with a great publisher. It’s going to be a great month!
