Felicity & Cordelia: A Tale of Two Bunnies by Lisa Jahn-Clough

Published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (An Imprint of Macmillan)

Pages: 40

Ages: 4-8

Publishers Summary: Felicity likes adventures. Cordelia likes to stay home. While Felicity sets off on her hot air balloon, Cordelia picks berries and bakes pies. Through letters, paintings, and dreams, the two are never far apart. When Felicity runs into trouble on her trip, she knows that it’s time to come back home.

This charming story of two unlikely friends shows that differences can be a good thing.

Littlebug Speaks Up: “Balloon! Balloon! Bunnies! Oh, this is the best best best book ever! It has bunnies, balloons and pie! And…they go to the mailbox a lot! I love going to the mailbox, it’s the best! Especially when I get fun things from grandma and papa!

“What I thought was so fun was that Felicity, the bunny, liked to fly up high in the air. One day I hope my mom will let me do something like that, even if she doesn’t like to. Kind of like how Cordelia was – my mom could watch and just wait. Then we could have pie together when I got back. It would be great! This is a great book and I hope you will read it soon, hopefully with a friend!”

Mom’s Two Cents: “Felicity & Cordelia are the best of bunny friends. They do almost everything together, but it just so happens that Felicity is more of an adventure type gal and Cordelia likes to snuggle down with a good book at home. No matter their differences though, when they do separate as Felicity goes off on an adventure they’re always on each others minds, always hoping for the best and awaiting their reunion.”

“This is truly just a delightful story. I loved everything about it. From the illustrations to the characters to the differences they each had. It was wonderful to show that friends can have differences and still be great friends. We each have our own preferences and it was really enjoyable to share that with the kiddos in this way.

“One of the things I truly enjoyed about this picture book was that the two friends were okay with having two different opinions about something. When the other disagreed or later realized that the other friend was right, they didn’t get upset or argue about it. It was delightful! It was so nice that though Cordelia mentioned to Felicity that she should bring an extra blanket on her trip it was something she rubbed Felicity’s nose in once she realized she’d made a mistake. I loved that! Because we all make mistakes, and we can’t always be right or wrong. No matter how we end up it’s important to teach children to be polite and appreciate the suggestions of others. You never know, those suggestions could just keep you warm at night!

“Overall, I really cannot say enough good about this story. Felicity & Cordelia: A Tale of Two Bunnies is delightful story that shows that friends can be complete opposites and still love being in each others company. Through Lisa Jahn-Clough’s gorgeous illustrations watch how these two friends who love each other are able to stay connected with the mail and fond wishes to see one another again soon. An absolute must read for friends everywhere!

The1stdaughter Recommends: Ages 2-8. A story that teaches children that friends can be found anywhere, no matter our differences.
