HOP: The Chapter Book by Annie Auerbach

Mom’s Two Cents:HOP is a new movie coming out this weekend that we’re really excited to see! Now, normally, I’m not one for movie-tie-in gimmicky type products, but when I heard who was behind the movie I couldn’t help but be interested. By now I’m assuming that most of you have seen Despicable Me, because I know we certainly have and love every minute of it. It’s hilarious! So, when I heard that some of the same team was behind this movie’s release I got very excited, not only for the movie but the books.

“Why? You might ask. Well, my kids love movies and TV. I know, I’m a terrible mom, I’m completely over that. Not really, and to be honest they don’t watch more than the average kid. But when they really love a movie, they love the books, the toys, the coloring books, etc. When I hosted the Despicable Me giveaway not too long ago, you know what happened? My kids ended up reading the book more than they’ve watched the movie. In fact, Littlebug read her Sleepy Kittens book just yesterday for the hundredth time. So, I’m guessing this makes me a movie-tie-in type of mom after all, but only the good stuff, right? Absolutely!

“Out of the five fantastic books being released in conjunction with Hop our favorites are definitely Counting Chicks and  Hop: The Chapter Book. For me it was wonderful that there was at least one book in the set for both kiddos. Littlebug is counting like crazy and she absolutely adored the chocolate with the chicks. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Turkeybird is becoming quite the chapter book fan and so the Hop Chapter Book was exactly what we were hoping for, an incredibly fun book with a few illustrations to keep him interested.

“I have no doubt we’ll absolutely love Hop, and thanks to the books we’ve got a jump start on what we have to look forward to in this spectacular new movie!”

The1stdaughter Recommends: Ages 0-6. Ages vary depending on which book read, but each is wonderful especially for the bunny loving crowd!

HOP Synopsis:

Blending state of the art animation with live action, Hop is a comedy about E.B. (voiced by Russell Brand), the teenage son of the Easter Bunny.  On the eve of taking over the family business, E.B. leaves for Hollywood in pursuit of his dream of becoming a drummer.  He encounters Fred (James Marsden), an out-of-work slacker with his own lofty goals, who accidentally hits E.B. with his car.  Feigning injury, E.B. manipulates Fred into providing him shelter, and Fred finds himself with the world’s worst houseguest.

We agree! Of all the books, we also liked the chapter book and the counting board book you mentioned. My daughter attempted to read “Meet the Easter Bunny” by herself, but it is just a little bit too hard for her just yet.

  4. I just saw the preview for this movie on TV two nights ago. Looks pretty good. But, probably won’t see it as I haven’t even seen Despicable Me yet! What’s up with that!

  5. ooooo this movie looks SO cute. I adore animated films.

Speaking of, have you see MegaMind yet?
