Littlebug Squeaks:“Such a cute little donkey! And I really really like the little girl. I was just sad she didn’t come to visit the donkey one day, but he’s really brave! He goes on a boat, in a swing and even on a skate board to get to the little girl. How cool is that!? One day I think I’d like to go fast on a skateboard!
“I really really like this story so much. Especially when the little donkey finally sees his little girl again and she tells him she loves him. It was such a good ending and so fun in the rest of the book!”
Mom’s Two Cents: “Serafina is a sweet little girl with a very adorable little donkey. Her little grey donkey lives a journey away and though it may be difficult, she never fails to visit him every day. That is until one day when she falls ill without her little donkey knowing what has happened. Determined to see his sweet Serafina again the little donkey sets out on an adventure to see how she is and possibly takes a few risks along the way.
“This is an absolutely adorable story. What truly sets it apart from many other picture books that revolve around the theme of conquering your fears are the illustrations. Coralie Saudo’s illustrations are gorgeous, I’d highly recommend taking a look at her blog to get a better feel for her brilliant work. I’d love to have nearly any of her images in print to put in my children’s rooms. Her work has a certain cultural influence to each, in Little Grey Donkey the illustrations give the feeling of a small Greek or Navajo village and I loved it! Not only that, but the small details and expressions added so much to the text by Nicole Snitselaar. Just beautiful!
“Little Grey Donkey is a delightful story that children will love. Helping kiddos to understand to take risks and not allow their fears to prevent them from accomplishing what they’d like to is at the heart of the picture book. In many ways it reminded me of the recent Caldecott Award winning book A Sick Day for Amos McGee. Maybe not quite as many characters, but at it’s heart a very wonderful message with stunning illustrations to add to it’s wonder. Definitely a picture book to have in the home!”
The1stdaughter Recommends: Ages 2 and up. Beautiful illustrations and a heart warming message about conquering your fears that kiddos will adore.

The cover illustration reminds me a lot of an Oliver Jeffers illustration (love him!!). I want to find a copy to share with my elementary kiddos!
