Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site by Sherri Duskey Rinker and Illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld

Published by Chronicle Books

Pages: 32

Ages: 4-8

Publishers Summary: As the sun sets behind the big construction site, all the hardworking trucks get ready to say goodnight. One by one, Crane Truck, Cement Mixer, Dump Truck, Bulldozer, and Excavator finish their work and lie down to restβ€”so they’ll be ready for another day of rough and tough construction play! With irresistible artwork by best-selling illustrator Tom Lichtenheld and sweet, rhyming text, this book will have truck lovers of all ages begging for more.

The Turkeybird Speaks: “Diggers! There are some super cool trucks and a big big digger in this book. It’s so cool! I’ve seen a few in person and they were so big.

“I really like this book! From the second my mom showed me the book out of the box and then she showed me the really neat book movie (ie. trailer) I was so excited to read it. I only wish the big trucks and most of all the digger didn’t have to go to bed, but I don’t like going to bed either. From what my mom read it sounded like I needed to sleep and the digger did too, so that we have energy to play the next day. That seems kid of silly, but I do know when I sleep I’m a lot happier. Maybe I should listen to the book! Especially because it’s super cool!”

Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site

Mom’s Two Cents: “Do you have a construction fan in your home? Does that particular fan also not believe in bedtime? Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site is absolutely the perfect book for young readers who love trucks, diggers and everything that has to do with construction. Help reluctant sleepers and readers understand the importance of sleep through the eyes of some very fascinating and hardworking trucks.

“Since the time Turkeybird was very little he’s loved trucks. In fact, his first word was truck believe it or not! His love of these dirt digging, haul lugging and rough machines is something he was born with and has since passed on to his little sister. His favorite is obviously the digger or better known as an excavator, though that’s a bit of a mouthful for this four year old. So without any doubt, Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site by Sherri Duskey Rinker was a must-read for this truck loving family!

“Not only does he love trucks & construction equipment, but Turkeybird is notorious for avoiding bedtime. He will do whatever is in his power to avoid those night time rituals and hit the sack; he’s been like this since birth and I’m not anticipating it’s discontinuation anytime soon. As a mom of a very poor sleeper, I’m always on the look-out for something to help him understand the importance of those hours lost in dreamland. Now, I’m not making promises, this is not a cure-all book, but it definitely helps illustrate a very important point. Sleep is a good thing, a needed thing and not just because mom needs a few hours to herself. Through these giant machines that are illustrated beautifully by Tom Lichtenheld, kiddos learn what sleep does for us so that we can enjoy the next day’s activities.

“Teach kiddos the importance of sleep through a set of very distinct construction machines and trucks. Each one has a job to do and without the right amount of sleep, it just simply would not get done. This is a book that will absolutely be enjoyed by construction equipment loving kiddos everywhere. Take a look at a hard days work and what it takes to get the job done right, including getting a good night sleep in this fantastic new book from Sherri Duskey Rinker!”

The1stdaughter Recommends: Ages 3 to 9. Help kiddos learn the importance of a good night’s sleep through a few of the very best construction trucks out there! Perfect for truck and machine fans everywhere!

What a fun book! Monster is only one, but he’s already starting to get excited about construction machines.

  2. Too Cute! I love that you get your son’s, I mean Turkeybird’s opinion as well. πŸ˜‰

Oh I saw this one…it looks so cute and what a great fit for little boys getting ready for bedtime. Looks like Chronicle Books strikes again with a fab title. It’s hard sometimes to find a book that caters to one or the other. Just the other day in the store we had a request that seemed simple on the surface but once you started looking, you realized the void that was invisible until then. Great review…and good luck to everyone who enters! ^_^

  5. Thank you so much for the nice feedback about my book! I’m thrilled that you and your children are enjoying it.

There are some interesting points in time in this article but I don’t know if I see all of them center to heart. There is some validity but I will take hold opinion until I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we want more! Added to FeedBurn…

This book would thrill my almost 3 year old nephew. He has been a fan of trucks, tractors, and diggers for a long time.
