Book Dreaming is just that. It’s a feature I’m going to use to highlight those books that make you dreamy or possibly just end up making you dream about them. Anything from newly released books to one’s that are already out that I can’t get out of my head to those I can’t seem to get my hands on soon enough!
Today’s Book Dreaming pick is This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers. First of all, look at that cover…wow! Even the simple blood splatter at the top has you wondering. Typically Courtney Summers is known for her realistic contemporary YA fiction, but even the the cover has you thinking this is not your typical book. Of course, that could never be said of Courtney Summers to begin with because her writing is miles from typical. With every book I’ve read of hers I’ve fallen more in love with reading, writing and life. She has a talent for telling stories that grab you so hard that you can’t let go for pages after the story has ended. And now, there will be zombies. I’m finding it difficult to contain my excitement if you couldn’t tell. So, without any further hesitation on my part, the synopsis for her novel due in 2012, This is Not a Test…
It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self. To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. I don’t do zombies but I admit, this book does look good.
I know! The thing about it is that the description kind of leads you to believe there’s not a lot of focus on the zombie aspect, more about her and the people she’s trapped with. So you may just like it!

Very interesting take on the apocalyptic theme. The cover’s a little bit creepy but I could probably deal for a good story.
It’s so unique, and I think with the setting there could be the potential for a very different take on things. I’m really looking forward to it!
