There's A Book

It’s Book Blogger Appreciation Week!

This is a week to celebrate all things relating to book bloggers themselves and everything we work hard to do to promote the books & authors we love. Each day focuses on a different topic and the first day is all about “Community”! Take a look…

From the BBAW Site:
Today you are encouraged to highlight a couple of bloggers that have made book blogging a unique experience for you. They can be your mentors, a blogger that encouraged you to try a different kind of book, opened your eyes to a new issue, made you laugh when you needed it, or left the first comment you ever got on your blog. Stay positive and give back to the people who make the community work for you!

So, because I usually mention a couple of my favorite sites(Tales of Whimsy and Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers) I thought I’d take a different spin on this. Over the last year there have been a few(haha, numerous) new additions to the book blogging community that, for one reason or another, have had me falling in love with book blogging in a brand new way. Without further hesitation…

Jamie from The Perpetual Page Turner and The Broke and Bookish
This is a book blogger who exudes what it means to love books! She won’t always tell you she’s loving book blogging or always wanting to post reviews every single day (which is absolutely okay in my book). But! What you can be guaranteed is that every single post she writes is heartfelt, powerful and entirely her own. She’s inspired me to do better with my writing and make a stronger attempt to truly illustrate how I feel about everything I do. Not only that, but her addition of Top Ten Tuesdays has been a movement in the book blogging community you simply can’t argue with. It’s phenomenal and has had me dusting off long lost bookish loves. She’s incredible and you simply should be visiting her site!

Allison from Reading Everywhere
I’m a very new follower of Allison’s blog, but there was one post in particular that got me. Generally, I’m not a “crying” person. It takes the right setting and circumstances. Well, Allison’s post was exactly the thing. Her post titled “Why we do what we do” had me in tears by half way through and immediately considering why it is I do what I do. Her writing is wonderful and she has fantastic ideas for librarians in particular. A must read!

Kate and Kristen from The Book Monsters
These girls were two of my “original” blogging buddies when I started out book blogging. In fact, Kristen was my first interview for the “When I Was Young” feature I used to do. They’ve recently joined forces (though they didn’t like each other at all in the beginning of blogging, lol) and have a new site. I love it! The look, the creativity, the events they host and of course their reviews. Plus, we go way back!

Carisa at iPad Storytime/The Digital Media Diet
This is a different book blog than you’d think, Carisa’s site only reviews book apps and she does an amazing job. Nearly every single day she has a new review up and deals on book apps. It’s just amazing! She’s been a source of strength for me as our sons are around the same age and share some similarities that we can encourage each other through. It’s been wonderful getting to know her and I especially love chatting with her on Twitter, she has the best recommendations!

Okay, I’m going to stop now! I honestly could keep going, but I want you to have a chance to visit these blogs as well as the others participating in BBAW! Have fun and if you think of it, tell me a new blog you love to visit!
