Today I have the marvelous opportunity of welcoming the wonderful debut author, Leigh Fallon to There’s A Book! Her brand new novel, Carrier of the Mark, was featured here many many moons ago when the cover was initially revealed and believe it or not the novel is now in stores!
As part of the tour to celebrate Carrier of the Mark’s debut Leigh is spending some time sharing more info about the gorgeous locations that can be found in the book. Today Leigh is sharing a special look into Trinity College in Dublin, which seems fitting to me as I’ve always wanted to go there. So, without further hesitation on my part, Leigh Fallon…

Trinity College
Trinity College Dublin is the location of the Orders crypt in Carrier of the Mark. Trinity is a beautiful college. It was founded in 1592. It was built on lands and dilapidated buildings of the monastery of All Hallows. In Carrier of the Mark, it is the monks of All Hallows that give their crypt to the Order to hide the Marked antiquities and to keep safe the history. In Carrier, the crypt is hidden in the foundations of what now stands as the stunning buildings of Trinity.
The Library of Trinity College is the largest research library in Ireland. The College is therefore legally entitled to a copy of every book published in Great Britain and Ireland and gets over 100,000 new books every year. The Library now has over five million books!
The most famous inhabitant of the Library is The Book of Kells , the most stunning of ancient books. They also have Book of Durrow, and the Book of Howth, all of which were inspiration for The Druid Scribes from Carrier of the Mark. These books are all very precious, and they only display the books, page at a time and are kept in climate controlled units to preserve the ancient materials and artwork.
Trinity is built around central squares, and houses some beautiful architecture mentioned in Carrier. There’s the Campanile, The Chapel, and the Rubrics, the oldest buildings on the campus, and the fictional home to The Dublin Order’s academic offices.
As you leave Trinity you step out on to College green where the Bank of Ireland (formerly Ireland’s Parliament House) stands proud. It’s here where American Presidents, Clinton and Obama, chose to do their major addresses during visits. And just a stone’s throw from the uber trendy and absolutely sizzling Temple Bar, a maze of pubs, clubs, restaurants, and shops for those of us who like to walk the wild side.

I used to hang out here a lot as a teen. My bus, the 47A, used leave from its stop just off College Green, down the side of Trinity. There are lots of happy memories associated with it. I’m smiling and getting the warm and fuzzies just typing this.
Congratulations on your spectacular debut novel Leigh and thank you so much for stopping by today!
Please don’t forget to visit the other stops on the tour as well as Friday’s stop at Parajunkee!
