Yesterday The NY Times announced their annual Best Illustrated Children’s Books picks for 2011!
I’m thrilled beyond belief to see so many of my favorite picture books on their list, but I have one question for the NY Times…where are the illustrations? The article is basically a listing of the winners in a paragraph or two with a single illustration by Sophie Blackall who was last year’s winner and a judge this year. I thought it was a bit curious that there weren’t even book covers and not even links to each of the books. It seemed a disservice to these amazing books and the readers who would most definitely want to pick them up.
So, because I’m a huge book cover fan and I’d love to show off these spectacular Children’s Books I thought I’d share their covers for everyone to enjoy and admire.

I have a few of these on my order for this year and now I’ll have to add the rest. Thanks for sharing the covers-it makes it so much more fun!
New Years Reunion looks good.
YES–I thought the exact same thing upon reading the NYT article. I was like, “Where the heck are the covers”? And then I was even more shocked to ask “Where the heck are the links?!”
So thank you for this post!
These books look really great!
Thanks for sharing. I’ve only read half of the list! Time to find the rest!
