There's A Book

With so much going on I thought I’d do a little bookish news happenings post this Sunday. By the way…did you remember to set your clocks back?

First up!

I’m being interviewed over at Anne R. Allen’s Blog! – Anne is not only an incredible author and blogger extraordinaire, but a friend of mine from way way back before either of us knew we actually live in the same California Coastal community. We actually met via an online writing forum based in Ireland and live just miles apart. Crazy, right?!
Well, now she’s the new “Nathan Bransford” of the writing community and has been generous enough to interview me about the ins and outs of book blogging/reviewing. Feel free to stop by and see what I think about how to approach me (or other book bloggers) for a review and much much more! I’ll be answering questions in the comments as well.

Second!

I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen in making waves in the book blogging community! – Not only is there now “Team Rabbit” vs. “Team Bear” but there are buttons and a Twitter hashtag to support the fabulous picture book, just search for #hatback on Twitter to find out what everyone is talking about. In addition to this there are some great posts and discussions going on including:
A great wrap-up from Teresa Rolfe Kravtin.
Reviews from two of my favorite book bloggers: Teach Mentor Texts and Playing By the Book
A mention in Fuse Eight’s News post this week about Jen’s post at Teach Mentor Text. Congrats again Jen!

Third!

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like… The Annual Book Blogger Holiday Swap! – I adore this event! I’m a sucker for sending gifts to people and picking out “just the right thing” as a surprise to brighten someone’s day. So this is absolutely my kind of thing and I hope it’s yours too! If you’re interested make sure to head over and sign-up because you only have until November 11th! Yes, that means only 5 more days to sign up! So skedaddle!

Last, but Certainly Not Least – A few favorite links from this weeks perusing.

From Tales of Whimsy and the fabulous Juju an audiobook review of The Mysterious Howling which is the first book in The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place series by Maryrose Wood. I loved Juju’s take on the narrator aspects of a great audiobook recording and how a good narrator can truly get under your skin. I’m definitely looking for a book narrated by Katherine Kellgren now. Loved it!

Sheila from Book Journey is out of town this week in Honduras and is featuring a bunch of my favorite book bloggers this week (including me!). It started up on Friday and will continue through the week. Do stop by and see what’s going on!

Debbie from Debs World of Books reminded me (duh!) that Chronicle Books Happy Haul-idays is happening! Hello, I’m only featuring them this month, where have I been? Anyway, you need to check it out! I’m putting together my post this week because who knows…I’d love to win $500 in free Chronicle Books, plus give them to a friend and charity! (PS…Did you know Debbie has a way cool “mom” blog Adventures of the Non-Creative Mom, do check it out!)

Seriously so happy my friend Jenni Elyse shared this fantastic Zombie Love Story song and video. It’s priceless.

Gina from Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers has a fabulous review of a favorite read of mine, Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursu. You certainly don’t want to miss this book or this review!

Vampire Diaries, oh how I can’t get enough and My Friend Amy knows how to do a wrap-up. I’m always checking her site to see when she’s posted her thoughts about this week’s episode (that and her reviews of course!). You don’t want to be missing this if you love TVD at all.

A couple of fantastic Chick Lit reviews this week – Jess at Tangled Up in Blue reviewed Love the One You’re With by Emily Giffin and Leah at Chick Lit Reviews and News reviewed The Secret of Happy Ever After by Lucy Dillon.

That’s it! I know, crazy good week, right? That’s not even the tip of the iceberg, there are so many more I just didn’t get to. Make sure to check out these links and enjoy finding some great new blogs to love.

  1. Yay you’re being interviewed! Whoot whoot congratulations :D

OMG thank you SO much for linking to my review. I feel SO honored.

    Honduras? Go Sheila!

I need to try Breadcrumbs :)

    LOVE this new feature.

I btw totally forgot to set the clocks back. Thank goodness my house is like Vegas and we don’t have the time really displayed anywhere ;)

  2. Zoe says:

Haha! Thanks for the shoutout. I really appreciate these round up posts (like by Jen Robinson and Donna in Canada) as what with the time difference I often miss out on great stuff on your side of the world. And talking about time differences, bizarrely enough, the UK clocks changed LAST week!

  3. Jen says:

This is awesome! I feel like I’m always behind when it comes to all these things to do! Thank you for doing all this work for us. :)

Thanks too for linking to my blog! I’ve had so much fun talking about I Want My Hat Back! It’s sure caused a lot of discussion!

Now I need to go work on my Haul-idays post! Very cool.

  4. Jenni Elyse says:

Thanks for the shout out! I’m glad you loved that song. It’s so awesome. I love the tune, words, and art for the video. I’m glad someone enjoyed it just as much as I did. :)

  5. The interview just went live! I learned so much. This is a must-read for all authors.

  6. HI Danielle, popping in this morning from Honduras to say hi!

  7. Gina says:

Thanks for the shout out my friend…and congrats on the interview! Off to follow the linky trails… ^_^
