There's A Book

The 20 Question Interview with our very own Turkeybird is our feature interview that will be happening with all of the book authors, illustrators and poets we love! Today the Turkeybird is extremely excited to share a favorite author of his and his mom’s, Adrian Fogelin. Her newest book, Summer on the Moon was published just this week and I’ve loved reading it. We’ll be posting a review and giveaway shortly, but until then we wanted to share a little more about this great author!
So, without further hesitation on our part, the Turkeybird’s 20 question interview with Adrian Fogelin…

1. Do you know how to skateboard like the guy from your book? (Socko)
Well…sort of. Socko is not so good at skateboarding—and I’m way worse.

2. When you were my age did you like to read?
No, I liked to be read to. It was so much easier.

3. What was your favorite book?
Probably Dr. Dolittle.

4. Why?
He could have conversations with animals—even shellfish—although he had to put his head underwater to talk to them.

5. Crayons or Markers?
Crayons. Definitely.

6. Why?
They smell great and if you get the Big Box there are a gazillion colors.

7. What’s your favorite color?
Blue-violet. It is the two best colors mixed together—and there’s a crayon by that name.

8. Do you still have your “Library”? (I think that’s so neat! I’d like to have a library one day too!)
Yes, yes, yes! Come visit us any Sunday. If you like books, crayons, board games, cooking, building crazy machines, making maps or eating cake The Front Porch Library is the place for you.
(For more about Adrian’s Front Porch Library check out this guest post she did for us last year!)

9. My Grandma’s favorite band was the Beatles too! My mom said that’s why we listen to the “Birthday” song by them every year for my birthday. Do you have a favorite song by them?
Maybe “Here Comes the Sun” because it is so happy—but if you ask me tomorrow I bet I’ll give a different answer. There are too many good choices!

10. If you were four what would you read next?
First, I would learn to read (but maybe you already know—you sound advanced) then I’d read “The Boy Who Cried Ninja.”

11. Do you have a favorite treat? (Mine is anything chocolate!)
Chocolate is definitely good, but my favorite treat isn’t a thing, it’s a do. I love to sing (into a microphone, in the shower, while walking my dog). Anywhere, anytime I just love to sing.

12. I’m starting school in a few months and I can’t wait! Do you have a good tips about making sure school is super fun?
If you like pizza and bendy carrots you’re going to love school lunch. You’ll also make a bunch of new friends. Don’t overlook the quiet kids. They make good friends too. Don’t forget to do a lot of running around when you’re not in school. The sort of bad news about school is they like you to sit a lot.

13. You have written lots and lots of books! Which one is your favoritest?
It is so hard to pick, but right now, “Summer on the Moon.” It’s brand new, it’s the latest. It has to be the best, right?

14. Why do you like to write?
I love telling stories. Making stuff happen. Being in charge.

15. Did you ever write a book about your story “The Man With the Golden Butt”? (I like that one the best! Hehe)
Some stories are best told to your little sister in a dark, dark room. “The Man With the Golden Butt” is that kind of story.

16. Swings or slides?
Tough choice, but I’ll go with…swings!

17. Why?
If you pump hard enough you can touch the sky.

18. What’s your favorite thing to do outside?
Go for a walk.

19. Why?
You never know what you are going to see (one of my books began with something I saw on a walk).

20. What are you writing right now?
A book about a magic hat.

The Turkeybird Speaks: Thank you Ms. Adrian! Next time I get on a swing I’m going to try to touch the sky! That is so neat!

I’m going to remember to run around and around at school. My mom took me to the school for some papers and I just wanted to keep running to play on the playground. It looks super fun! I think I’m going to have to wait forever to start school!

Thank you again Ms. Adrian! One day you will have to visit my Front Porch Library! I’m making one because of yours!

Oh that’s right! I had forgotten Turkeybird’s involvment with this tour. ~waves~ Loving the sound of the library….how fun is that! Oh and THE BOY WHO CRIED NINJA! Fun times. ^_^ Fantastic interview as usual you guys. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Hey Turkeybird! That is so cool about you starting your own Front Porch Library. Just imagine Front Porch Libraries in neighborhoods all over the world. There would be no more BOOK EMERGENCIES. A kid could get a book any time they needed one!

Good luck at school. Make lots of new friends, read plenty of books and enjoy the pizza!

    • That would be super cool!

He can’t wait for school, really. He was very upset yesterday that he couldn’t go yet. It’s going to be a long summer I think, but he’ll be excited for the Fall. :)

  3. Emily Rivet says:

I always love a good Turkeybird interview! This one is particularly fun!
