There's A Book

Smash!Crash! (Trucktown) by Jon Scieszka and Illustrators: David Shannon, Loren Long, David Gordon

Jack Truck and his best friend Dump Truck Dan are spending the day doing their favourite thing…Smashing and Crashing throughout the whole town! Along the way the meet up with their friends and give us a rollicking tour! But when a mysterious shadow falls over them and a strange voice calls, could the smashing, crashing duo be in trouble? Or has a new friend come to town to join in all the smashing fun?

No secrets here, our family loves Jon Scieszka! One of my hubby’s favorite books as a child was his rendition of the story of the three little pigs, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. For me personally it’s been his involvement in the Guys Read series from Walden Pond Press as well as his Spaceheadz series that have both been fantastic. For the kiddos, without a doubt Robot Zot! and the above series, Trucktown, are both ones they simply cannot do without. We were over the moon last year when the Turkeybird had the opportunity to interview Jon and even more elated when we heard it was his favorite interview ever! So obviously, we’re huge fans and we’d highly encourage you to pick up any number of his books; perhaps even his newest middle grade Guys Read: The Sports Pages due out in July!

In case that wasn’t enough about Jon Scieszka, take a look at this fun short video he did not too long ago:

We love Henry B Baloney by Scieszka. We even practiced pronouncing his name correctly (on his website). We’d love to win.
