There's A Book

This fabulous weekly recap is hosted by Shelia of One Persons Journey Through a World of Books and the kidlit version is hosted by Jen from Teach Mentor Texts. Each week we recap what we’ve read and look at what’s coming up this week. If you’re interested head over to Shelia’s site as well as Jen’s and get involved! It’s a blast and I may even stop by to see what you’re up to!

Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

It’s been a few weeks since I posted a Monday wrap-up, but that’s primarily because I’ve been insane running from one side of the country to the other! Wow! This year was my first trip to Book Expo America and it was an incredible experience. There were good and bad and unbelievable experiences, many of which I’ll never be able to recreate. It was also a chance for my hubby and I to get away for a week while Grandma and Grandpa took the kiddos for a week of fun. Exactly what we both needed!

All of that being said, I’m so happy to be home with my two adorable kiddos and my wonderful hubby. That’s not to mention I can now attempt to get caught up on my reading, blogging and life in general. It’s been a fantastic few weeks and I’m excited to be heading down to Los Angeles for ALA next weekend which never fails to be more relaxed and educational. So, really, no rest for the weary. Haha.

PS…If you have a few minutes I’d love for you to fill out my Reader Survey! I’m offering a $25 gift card to Amazon and would love the feedback about my blog. Thank you!

So, what are you reading this week? Have any suggestions I should add to my reading pile?

  1. The Duckling Gets a Cookie is so stinkin’ adorable. For storytime this week, I read “Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late” and they loved it. We did it as a engaged story, they kept telling me no and I was the pigeon. :) Incredibly cute and so so fun!

What are YOU reading @ The Brunette Librarian??

  2. Heist Of Prophesy looks so good. It was fun meeting you at BEA, I am curious when you say there was good and bad… Ugh, hope the bad wasn’t anything major.

Off to do your survey :)

    • The bad revolved primarily around my disappointment with the blogger con and also the condition of my feet by the end of the week. Otherwise it was fantastic and SO good to meet you as well! :)

I am not familiar with your books, Oh, and tried to follow, but could not find any linkys or network blogs or GFC buttons, I did do the google friends one, but never go there, anyway, i did do twitter. My monday post is here if you want to come by Concise Book Reviews By Michelle

    • Sorry about that! I’m on a self-hosted site and the GFC thing no longer works for the site because blogger won’t support it. I do have RSS and email subscriptions you can sign up for using a google reader or email service. Thanks for the follow on Twitter! I’m pretty active there as well. :)

The Duckling Gets a Cookie is a cute one. My favorite read last week was Body and Soul by Stacey Kade. Please come see what else I’m reading.

  5. Teddyree says:

I’m curious now … the blogger con?? Would you do BEA again? Sounds like you had a busy, fun couple of weeks.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy your reads :)

    • I’m pretty sure that unless they completely changed the bbc I wouldn’t go again, but I’d definitely consider BEA again. Especially if it moved a little closer to home. :)

Thanks for coming by! Have a wonderful week as well!

I hope you will come by and say hello.

    • Hopefully you’ll get to go some time! I think everyone should get to go at least once, it’s a great experience, especially for some who loves books as much as you do. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by. I’ll swing by soon!

The Closed Heart series looks interesting. And-I’d like to get my hands on that Duckling Wants A Cookie. Mo Willems is the best. Thanks for the reviews.

  9. Andra Lynn says:

WOw you read such a crazy variety of books! I can’t believe I’ve never heard of any of them lol! Well Happy Reading anyway!! :D

  10. Jen says:

As always you sound busy but like you are having a blast. You amaze me every time. I love my online friends! Everyone is always doing something. I’m actually in the middle of Sophie Kinsella’s newest book. I love her so I have to stop my kidlit reads when she comes out with a new book. I’m off to pick up the audio of The Penderwicks on Gardam Street from the library this afternoon. Have you read any of the Penderwicks? Super cute. Glad you had fun at BEA!!!

    • Oh! I really need to finish the new Kinsella! I’ve had it for quite awhile, but I’ve been so busy I can’t seem to finish it. :)

I haven’t read any of the Penderwicks! But they sound fantastic! Would you recommend the audio over the print?

Thanks again for stopping by! I’ve missed my blogging friends these last couple of weeks! :)

  11. Your blog is just too cute! I love it!
My kids *love* any book my Mo Willems. Knuffle Bunny is well worn around here!
