There's A Book

Trains Go by Steve Light

The big steam train goes, “CHUGGA chugga chugga CHUGGA chugga chugga CHOO CHOOOOOOO!” The diesel train goes, “zooosh zooosh ZOOOOOOOOSH ding ding ding!” The American goes, “clang clang clang TOOT TOOT!” All aboard! Take a trip on eight noisy trains as they huff, puff, and toot-toot their way through this lively board book! Perfect for the young train enthusiast.

Reminiscent of Donald Crews’ Freight Train, Trains Go has been a hit in this home of two train loving kiddos. We originally discovered Steve Light’s work via the Happy Birthday Author blog (which I love), when they featured his book The Christmas Giant.

Since then everyone in our home has been a huge fan of Steve’s and are thrilled about his upcoming picture book from Candlewick Press, Zephyr Takes Flight. I was able to meet and have my own copy of Zephyr Takes Flight signed by Steve and I’m telling you right now…this is a book that everyone will be talking about in the Fall! It’s a bit of a mix of adventure, imagination, family and a hint of Narnia thrown in. I’m in love and so are both Littlebug and Turkeybird. Until Zephyr Takes Flight by Steve Light is released in October enjoy a scene from the interior of the book I know you’ll love as much as I do:

Oh, I can definitely see this one being a favorite with the younger crowd, especially little boys! Great find Danielle…. ^_^

Love the illustration style! And The Monster is completely obsessed with trains and other large machinery, so this would be a big hit in my house 🙂

  3. O it’s sooo pretty. I love the art.
