There's A Book

This fabulous weekly recap is hosted by Shelia of One Persons Journey Through a World of Books and the kidlit version is hosted by Jen from Teach Mentor Texts. Each week we recap what we’ve read and look at what’s coming up this week. If you’re interested head over to Shelia’s site as well as Jen’s and get involved! It’s a blast and I may even stop by to see what you’re up to!

Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

This week has been something else. Earlier in the week I broke a tooth and needed a root canal which made for a very grumpy mom for the better part of the latter half of the week. Otherwise, I did end up reading quite a bit during that time which was nice, but I’m definitely looking forward to a more healthy happy week this coming week.

One really fun thing that happened this week was that the Turkeybird started writing his own picture books! I couldn’t be more proud and I can’t wait to see what he does in the future! Here’s a peek at his beginnings (remember he’s only five!):

Those are all new books to me. I like the changes you’ve made to your blog design.

My favorite read last week was Sweet Revenge (audio) by Diane Mott Davidson. Please come see what else I’m reading.

  2. BookBelle says:

Maybe some of the best stories I’ve read have been written by the 5 year olds that I’ve had in my life. Congrats on your child that loves to read and write!

  3. I loved Everybody Sees the Ants too – what a moving book! And your reading pile for this week looks pretty full, so no suggestions from me :-)

  4. Katya says:

I’ll be curious to see what you think of Infinity Ring. I read the Maze Runner trilogy but had a hard time getting into the series.

I’m so sorry about your tooth troubles — dentist visits can ruin any week.

  5. Sorry to hear about your tooth. That’s awful! The Infinity Ring is definitely on my list to read.

Here’s what I’m reading on Clean Adult Fiction

  6. Sorry to hear about your tooth! (reminds me that I need to go to the dentist…ugh!)

LOVE Turkeybird’s book, especially after reading about him in your NerdyBookClub post!

I can’t wait to see your review on Small Damages. I added that to my Goodreads to-read shelf a while back.

Happy reading to you and the babies!!

  7. Chris says:

I don’t know about Creepy Carrots. I might avoid carrots for the rest of my life if I read that (or at least if I did while I was a kid).

    Here’s my Monday Post.

  8. Sidne says:

Creepy Carrots, now thats funny. may have to add that to the littles ones list of funny titled books.

  9. We just got Everybody Sees the Ants at my library…and we can’t even keep it on the shelves. I guess that’s a really good thing in a library :)

    Happy reading :)

I love Turkeybird’s book!!! So cute. Jordan has started sounding out words and writing a bit. We did write a book together a couple of weeks ago. I was writing in the laundry room and he came in and wanted to write with me. We haven’t illustrated it yet though…sounds like a plan for tomorrow!

Ungifted looks awesome! I love the cover. I’m definitely going to look for that!

  16. Infinity Ring looks intriguing… can’t wait to hear what you think! My sons have decided they will be working on graphic novels this summer. It’s so fun to watch them grow. I also loved your Nerdy Book Club post!

  17. Gina says:

Wow, a root canal? No wonder you were grumpy…and entitled to be! Hope you’re feeling better now. Congrats to Turkeybird on his picture book writing adventures! You’re gonna have a house filled with writers in one fashion or another, I just know it. ^_^
