There's A Book

Olympig! by Victoria Jamieson

Just in time for the Olympics, a spirited, sporty romp about losing gracefully.
Boomer the Pig has been training hard for the Animal Olympics, so when he loses his first race, he shrugs it off and cheerfully moves on. One event after another, Boomer keeps losing, and the frustration begins to get to him. But even after coming in last in every sport, there’s no getting this olympig down. It’s just great practice for the Winter Games!
Cool comic book styling combines with classic picture book heart in this encouraging and hilarious story for every kid who’s ever been told “you can’t win ‘em all.”

Just in time for the 2012 Olympics comes Olympig! by Victoria Jamieson. I’m not sure if it’s the pig, Boomer, or the fact that this book centers around a favorite event of mine but I’m absolutely in love with this book. I’m hoping our copy will arrive early next week so I can share it with the kiddos in time for the Olympics and hopefully make this year’s event something they’ll remember and thoroughly enjoy. And also, love the glimpse into the book I was able to take thanks to the publisher, Dial Books for Young Readers:

Olympig! is a picture book that I’m sure will be enjoyed in our home by both kiddos and parents. I’m thrilled to be able to share a little bit more about possessing the positive qualities of good sportsmanship, especially as Turkeybird prepares to head to school this year. It will definitely be of some help, I’m sure!

Plan a Kid Olympics thanks to Victoria Jamieson’s website! What a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this year’s Olympic events with kiddos! She even includes printable downloads for medals and things. SO neat!
