There's A Book

We’re up to Book Four in the Ivy and Bean Blog-A-Bration Celebration for the upcoming release of Book Nine in the series, Ivy and Bean Make the Rules. This week I’m focusing on something that’s a passion of mine…illustrations.

I’m a sucker for an incredibly well illustrated children’s book and Sophie Blackall is one of my favorites. Her illustrations are found in a number of books outside of the Ivy and Bean series including a favorite of mine, Missed Connections. Sophie has a light touch to her illustrations that I feel aid in the whimsical quality of the books she illustrates. Also, if you’re eager to get your hands on Sophie’s artwork she actually has an Etsy shop with some of her prints up for sale!

Ivy and Bean Take Care of the Babysitter by Annie Barrows and Sophie Blackall

The adventures of Ivy and Bean continue in the latest installment from series creators Annie Barrows and Sophie Blackall. In Ivy and Bean Take Care of the Babysitter, the two girls hatch a plan to prove that Bean’s big sister is the world’s worst babysitter. Of course plans go awry, but fun ensues!

  1. PragmaticMom says:

We love Ivy and Bean. My 5th grader read them all as a 2nd grader but still loves them so we still buy the newest ones even though they are a fast read for her now.

  2. Not sure which girl I’d pick, but just based off the names… right now I’d go with Ivy. (Kinda to match the flower names in my family. Me = Jasmine, daughter = Lily.)

    Thanks for hosting!

  3. Danzel says:

Bean is more active, Ivy is more imaginative… hmmmm… My kids already pretend to be Ivy and Bean (the youngest is Ivy, the oldest is Bean), and if I name one over the other, it would be like choosing one child over the other! :o )

  4. Kristie says:

Since I haven’t read the books to know the characters, I’d have to go by their names and I think Bean has an interesting name :-)

  5. aatweens says:

I haven’t read the books yet but based on the names, I choose Ivy. Ivy just sounds sweeter to me. :D

  6. Gina says:

Quite the celebration! Good luck everyone!

  7. bn100 says:

Ivy since she sounds like fun.

  8. Robot says:

This summer I read the 1st Ivy and Bean book. I think even the second (memory failing…yikes!). Thanks for the giveaway!

  9. V(Bookborne) says:

I’m going to go with Bean. Mostly because everyone else here seems to be picking Ivy :)

  10. Maureen says:

I will pick Bean because that is a great name.

  11. Heidi Grange says:

I would say, Ivy, because I’m most like her. We could talk books. :)
