There's A Book

The newest book in the spectacularly funny Ivy and Bean series will be out in only a couple of weeks and today I’m sharing a favorite…Ivy and Bean: What’s the Big Idea?! This was my first introduction into the series and I absolutely loved it. I remember reading it and laughing hysterically page after page. If you didn’t catch my review of Ivy and Bean: What’s the Big Idea? by Annie Barrows Id’ highly recommend checking it out and for now take a look at the synopsis from this week’s feature during the Ivy and Bean Blog-A-Bration!

Ivy and Bean: What’s the Big Idea? by Annie Barrows and Illustrated by Sophie Blackall

It’s the Science Fair, and the second grade is all over it! Some kids are making man-eating robots. Some kids are holding their breath for a very, very long time. Some kids are doing interesting things with vacuum cleaners. The theme, obviously, is global warming. But what should Ivy and Bean do? Something involving explosions? Or ropes? Somethingwith ice cubes? Or maybe . . . maybe something different.

It feels so sad to say I don’t remember ever entering a science fair as a child! And my kids haven’t had the opportunity yet. (My independent reader just started first grade last month.) At home, we’ve done very small experiments with a kids’ science kit, though. We made little crystals, things like that.

  2. Carol L says:

It’s been so long since I attended school . We didn’t do science creations or projects sadly. But as my 7 kids went to school it was an experience to see the projects they were creating for Science. Volcanoes with lava. Thanks for another chance.

I never had the opportunity to do a science fair project during my school years. Our daughter did a major science study about water quality in our local creeks, rivers and streams. It was amazing to see her passion for this science/environmental topic.

  4. V(Bookborne) says:

I never entered the science fair! I was homeschooled :) And my kids are too little for the science fair yet. But I think Cat’s project in FAT CAT was pretty cool.

  5. Kristie says:

I never did a science fair, but I had science projects that I had to do for school. One favorite was making a model of the solar system :-)

  6. I would have to go with the volcano project. I loved it when I was a kid and my kids still love it. :)

    Thanks for hosting! :)
