There's A Book

This fabulous weekly recap is hosted by Shelia of One Persons Journey Through a World of Books and the kidlit version is hosted by Jen from Teach Mentor Texts. Each week we recap what we’ve read and look at what’s coming up this week. If you’re interested head over to Shelia’s site as well as Jen’s and get involved! It’s a blast and I may even stop by to see what you’re up to!

Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

Busy! But really, are you all surprised? Yeah, probably not. This week I did come down with a nasty cold on top of everything else that made life really fun. Outside of that I’ve been working hard to get myself involved in as much as humanly possible. BBAW, Bloggiesta, Brazen Reads (a new collaborative romance review site put together by Pam from Bookalicious and yours truly), the Central Coast Writer’s Conference this coming weekend (I’m on a panel!) and my Turkeybird is keeping me busy with his first year in school as a kindergartner! To say I’m busy would probably be an understatement…I guess.

  1. I was so impressed with A.S. King’s Everybody Sees the Ants and plan to read some of her other novels in the future – are you enjoying As the Passengers?

  2. Ms. Yingling says:

Finally had a student read Bigger Than a Bread Box and mention that it was a good book. It’s been a hard sell, even though I liked it.

  3. Katya says:

My son was really excited when he started reading Bigger Than A Breadbox but he stalled out at about 75% and struggled to finish it. I’m curious to read it now and see why he stalled out.

  4. Deb Nance at Readerbuzz says:

Lost in Paris! Now that’s where I want to be lost!

  6. Jennifer says:

I loved Bigger Than a Breadbox! I’ve had a handful of students read it and enjoy it as well!

  7. Bigger than a Breadbox is another book that’s been on my TBR list for a while now. Maybe once I knock out a few more Newbery books!

  8. Linda Baie says:

I loved Bigger Than A Breadbox. I went to your post about One of A Kind-it looks so good, like it fills a niche for those kids who feel alone. Thanks for the review!

  9. I really love coming here each week and checking out your new children’s books. I work in the Teen dept at a library and don’t see too many picture books, but when I get to go through them to read them, I always enjoy ‘em! So cute and teach really great things to our kids.

Have a wonderful reading week :)
Whatcha readin’ this week @ the Brunette Librarian :)

  10. Danielle! I must read Bigger than a Breadbox – it does seem like a great read. I could see that you are indeed busy! But the website looks great, and it IS thriving with your care. The brainchild with Pam also sounds great (and steamy too!). Have fun at the conference!

  11. Megan says:

I keep seeing Creepy Carrots on lists! I think I need to ask my library to get it. How is Ask the Passengers? Someday I will read it…

  12. Gina says:

Busy little readers aren’t you? ^_^ Just saw MIRA’S DIARY the other day and curious to hear your thoughts on BINKY (looks cute!). Will be reading FORGOTTEN myself as well here shortly. Happy reading guys!

  13. Maria says:

Curious to hear your thoughts on Ask the Passengers because that cover just grabs me. Congrats on your Cybils selection…will be eagerly following your thoughts there, too! :)

  14. Chauntelle says:

What great book suggestions! I will have to check them out!
