There's A Book

This fabulous weekly recap is hosted by Shelia of One Persons Journey Through a World of Books and the kidlit version is hosted by Jen from Teach Mentor Texts. Each week we recap what we’ve read and look at what’s coming up this week. If you’re interested head over to Shelia’s site as well as Jen’s and get involved! It’s a blast and I may even stop by to see what you’re up to!

Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

Crazy business. Pretty much everyone in the house is sick or getting over a sickness of some sort, so the last few days I’ve been laying low trying to get some rest. That being said, it’s almost Halloween! Yikes! Littlebug has requested a princess costume (I know, you’re all shocked. LOL) and I’m frantically trying to sew something presentable for her. I promise there will be pictures! Turkeybird has opted for a much easier costume, Phineas from Phineas and Ferb. Yay! Otherwise, things have bee quiet and even a little relaxing, thankfully. How about you?

So, what are you reading this week? Have any suggestions I should add to my reading pile?

  1. Ooh the cover for Envy is creepy! Hope you enjoy it and all your other reads for this week.

  2. Ms. Yingling says:

Didn’t know that the Library Dragon had returned. I remember the first book from when my (older teens!) where tiny. I’ll have to take a look.

  3. I love all the scary titles here! I’m particularly with the Philip Pullman one as I loved his Dark Materials – just brilliant. My own ten year old daughter has no plans of going trick or treating – much less wear a costume. :( Kids grow up too quickly these days. Envy by Gregg Olsen also looks scary – reminded me of The Grudge. :)

  4. Nice nice nice! Good stuff.

You’re sewing the costume! You go girl.
That reminds me Baby Whimsy’s Princess Leia costume needs some nipping and tucking.

I’m currently reading Witches of East End and listening to The Name of the Star. :)

  5. Wow the entire row of Listening/Reading looks fabulous! Off to the library to see what I can find of that list for mine.

  6. Maria says:

Boo to being sick! Preschooler has declared herself a princess this year, too (definitely an age-thing!), but I’m going the easy route and using one of the dresses from our dress-up stash, along with a tiara from the dollar store ;)

Happy to see Lovabye Dragon on your list. We really enjoyed that one, both the illustrations and the non-traditional princess. Will be interested to see your thoughts, too!

  7. Oh, I’ve been wanting to read Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs! We really like dinosaurs at our house lately, plus modern updates (or would that be pre-historic updates??) to classics are always fun. Thanks to you (and your little ones) for sharing.

  8. Gina says:

Busy week, as usual… ^_^… and look! Glamorous Glasses! I have that on my reading horizon too! Happy reading guys!

  9. Jo says:

Grimm and Dragons. What fun. And I haven’t read any of them… yet. =)

    Hope the costumes go well.

  10. JEN Vincent says:

Looks like a good match – In a Glass Grimmly and the Fairy Tales book. :) The dragon books look like fun, too! We read Saint George and the Dragon earlier in the year and loved it (an old Caldecott winner).
