There's A Book

So, I’m sure some of you noticed my rather long absence last week. Yikes! It was likely the longest I’ve been away from the blog since I started it about three years ago and it wasn’t entirely of my own choice. You see, Turkeybird and I have been sick for about three or four weeks now and things finally got so bad last week that we made it to the doctor on Monday. Turns out I was actually really quite sick, a bad sinus infection and a mild case of pneumonia. Turkeybird had similar problems, but thankfully no pneumonia. Also, thank goodness for medicine! Both of us are already feeling leaps and bounds better than we were and life is starting to feel normal again. Yay!

Now that life can get going again we are all really looking forward to the holidays with both sets of grandparents, one at Thanksgiving and the other for Christmas! Also, I’m excited to read again! Because, despite what you might think with me being sick, I haven’t felt the desire to read much. Honestly, I didn’t feel like doing much of anything except sleeping and watching an occasional movie (or season of Parenthood, lol). So yes, I can finally gobble my way through the piles of books I’ve been anguishing over these last few weeks! Here are a few I’m taking with me on our Thanksgiving trip (some are re-reads, but perfect for the season):

In other news…I wouldn’t be a good fan of The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare or The Host by Stephenie Meyer if I didn’t share these two unbelievable trailers with everyone:

What do you think? (It’s killing me that I can’t get them to center in the post. Grrr!) Are you looking forward to a few book-to-movie adaptations in the next few months? I know I am! It’s not only these two that I’m excited for, there’s also my “short list”:
The Hobbit, Breaking Dawn 2, Les Miserable, Anna Karenina, World War Z, The Great Gatsby, Warm Bodies and Rise of the Guardians.

That’s what’s been happening around here. Oh, also a ton of Cybils reading/reviewing coming! And! My Birthday!!! Yep. It’s my birthday in just over a week and it’s also the third anniversary of There’s A Book, so I’m thinking something fun is in order. You’ll have to stop by later to find out!

You tell me, anything causing you to “Press the Pause Button” recently?

  1. Fun! Great stack you’re taking with you too.

  2. Yes! In answer to your question about pausing. Life has made me pause pretty much all blogging and some reading 🙂

  3. So glad to hear that you’re feeling better! But I know what you mean about life pausing things–I’m feeling a bit that way myself!

Yes, yay for medicine! I hate taking it, but when the time comes and I (or especially my kids) really need it, I am so glad to live in the modern age. Glad you are feeling better!
