There's A Book

This fabulous weekly recap is hosted by Shelia of One Persons Journey Through a World of Books and the kidlit version is hosted by Jen from Teach Mentor Texts. Each week we recap what we’ve read and look at what’s coming up this week. If you’re interested head over to Shelia’s site as well as Jen’s and get involved! It’s a blast and I may even stop by to see what you’re up to!

Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

Crazy I tell you, crazy! Everyone but me (surprisingly) has been sick, but thankfully by today things were looking much better for all. On top of that I’ve been frantically working away on my revision notes for my middle grade manuscript that my fabulous agent sent over just before Thanksgiving. I’m loving the entire process and I have high hopes that by the end of the week I’ll be able to wrap things up and also have a healthy house.

On top of all of that, Cybils judging is in full swing and boy have we been reading like crazy. You would not believe how many picture books have come through our front door over the last couple of weeks. It’s fantastic! I’m excited to whittle down the list of picture book finalists with the other judges because there are some truly incredible books out there.

I hope everyone is have a fabulous week and getting ready for the holidays! I’ll be sharing my holiday shopping list in the next day or two, so be sure to get those pens & pencils ready!

  1. So many lovely Christmas books here. My class loves Scaredy Squirrel. I will need to look for this one. I read Penguin and Pinecone this week too. Such a sweet little story.

  2. Megan says:

I struggle with Christmas books, but I just read Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares and loved it.

  3. Oh you poor dear. I can relate. We’re were all sick last week with a stomach thing and this morning I woke to a sore throat.

  4. Sarah says:

Sad Santa and Penguin and Pinecone are great, and I love the whole Little Miss/Little Master series. It’s too bad that two of the six (Dracula and A Christmas Carol) are basically seasonal. Christmas Wombat by Jackie French, illustrated by Bruce Whatley, is my favorite holiday book this year.

  5. I just got Pickle in the mail. Looking forward to reading it. I just finished Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper….loved it!

  6. Jennifer says:

I just got a copy of The Fourth Stall part III also! I have a couple of boys who will flip out when I bring it in. It’s such a popular series!
I can’t imagine doing all of this Cybils reading! Kudos to you guys because that just seems like an insane amount of reading!

  7. Earl says:

It was fascinating to see the classics board books. There’s another series that just came out called Cozy Classics with needle-felt illustrations. It amuses me whenever I see them in my store.

  8. Gina says:

Oh I ADORE that edition of YES VIRGINIA! Beautiful artwork. I see FOURTH STALL PART 3 lurking on your list as well….can’t wait to read all about it! But what’s this? SAD SANTA? Aww…someone needs a hug. Have a fab week my friend, in books and life! ^_^
