There's A Book

For a few weeks I’ve been hinting about some big news coming up and now I can finally spill the beans…

As most of you know I signed on as an author with Literary Agent Pam van Hylckama Vlieg some time ago. Since that time I’ve worked with Pam not only through my writing, but also in preparation for taking a position as an Assistant Agent with her. It’s no secret that I’m passionate about children’s literature and working toward the goal of becoming an agent to represent the authors & illustrators behind the scenes was not only natural, but a dream of mine.

Today Foreword Literary was officially announced! A brand new literary agency built on a foundation of expertise but with an eye toward the future of publishing. Laurie McLean, Gordon Warnock and Pam van Hylckama Vlieg are the three agents who head up the new agency and I greatly admire and respect each of them for a number of reasons. They bring so much knowledge and passion for publishing that I couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to work as an Assistant Agent under them.

Here’s a short passage from the official press release (that also includes me if you read the full release!!!):

March 5, 2013—San Francisco Bay Area—A new literary agency was formed today in California’s Silicon Valley…one focused on technology and innovation in addition to the more traditional aspects of publishing. Laurie McLean and Pam van Hylckama Vlieg, both former literary agents with Larsen Pomada Literary Agents, along with Gordon Warnock, formerly a senior agent at Andrea Hurst & Associates, have joined forces to create FOREWORD LITERARY, INC. with headquarters in the Silicon Valley and offices throughout the country.

As an assistant agent at Foreword Literary I’ll be focusing on clients whose work I’m passionate about and helping them to achieve the next level (and beyond) in their careers. My primary focus will be children’s literature from picture books to middle grade. I shared a little about this over at the Foreword Literary blog, but it goes without saying that I couldn’t be happier to be involved from beginning to end with the creation of great books for children!

If you’re an author looking to query me about representation I’d love for you to review my submission guidelines and then send me an email. Please note, I will still be reviewing here at There’s A Book. I couldn’t leave this corner of the web that’s brought me so much happiness and fulfillment. I do ask though that prospective clients use the submission email at Foreword Literary to query me and not my general review email.

Thank you all in advance! I am beyond thrilled at this news and for all it means for the future!
