Publishers Summary:

Matilda is a very good girl. She likes to read and water her flowers. Hans is very naughty. He makes too much noise and is always causing trouble! When Hans lets the animals out of the zoo, a reward is offered for his capture. Matilda tells the police where he will be, but when they catch Hans and take off his mask, they find something quite surprising!
A comical tale of naughty and nice with a surprising twist!

Turkey's HatLittlebug and Turkeybird Get Sneaky: Hehe. We love Matilda and Hans. Mostly because they are super duper sneaky! They have a secret and you’ll never guess what it is. Never ever!

Littlebug is more like Hans who sneaks around a lot and Turkeybird is more like Matilda who’s always quiet…or are they? We like to read this over and over again and giggle every time their super secret is found out!

Matilda and Hans 2

Mom’s Two Cents: Matilda and Hans were two very different cats. One very quiet and well behaved, but the other mischievous to the bone. Matilda loves to read and Hans is a sneaky trickster. Opposites in every way…or are they really that different?

Matilda and Hans by Yokococo has been such a fun book to explore with Turkeybird and Littlebug. Both leap into giggling fits every time we read the ending. There is a pretty obvious spoiler filled ending to this book, but lets just say Matilda and Hans aren’t so different. Knowing this has led to a number of great conversations about how we all of things we like to do and how different they can be. The fact that Hans is very sneaky (and in turn makes it also Matilda that is sneaky) brought up when it’s not okay to lie or hide important things from the people we know. Though the story isn’t largely about sharing a message with the reader the subtle and fun storytelling makes it easy to draw themes from.

Not only was Matilda and Hans by Yokococo a fun read, but also delightfully illustrated tale of two very silly cats who may not be so different after all. Hans may be sneaking around letting all of the animals at the zoo out, but Matilda may have a few sneaky tricks up her sleeve as well. Both Turkeybird and Littlebug have loved reading about this quirky duo and can’t wait for more books featuring Matilda and Hans.

The1stdaughter Recommends: Ages 3 to 8. A surprise twist at that will have the youngest of readers giggling uncontrollably.

  1. Stacy Couch says:

Sounds like a sweet, mischievous read! I once asked my nephew, apropos of nothing, if he considered himself a good boy or a bad boy. He surprised me, and with a very sneaky smile said, “Hmm. I think I’ll be both.”

  2. PragmaticMom says:

It sounds adorable! My kids would love characters are polar opposite as Hans and Matilda. Great names too! We love sneaky!
