Publishers Summary: Each evening as gentle Mr. Night walks the earth closing the flowers, soothing the animals, and calming the sea, he brings a special magic to the world. When he arrives at your window, you’ll know it’s time for bed at last. . . .

The Turkeybird Speaks: “You should definitely jump in your pj’s, grab some milk and get ready to snuggle up for this one! I love it! Mr. Night is amazing! He makes the animals go to sleep just by patting their backs and has the ocean quiet just by waving his arms. It’s wonderful!

“When I read this book I just want to snuggle up with my dad and be quiet. The pictures are so pretty, but my favorite is Mr. Night. Sometimes, I’m sure he’s playing his music right outside my window at night, helping me drift back to sleep after a bad dream has woken me up and then gives me a good one right after. I know that even though Mr. Night goes to sleep when I wake up in the morning, he will be there helping me the very next night and he’ll make things alright again and again.”

Mom’s Two Cents: “This is a beautiful book! It truly has to be one of my favorite bedtime books ever. When I purchased this book it was in hopes that it would help the Turkeybird with his bedtime routine. As he gets older he struggles with wanting to go to bed and fears he’s never had before. Good Night, Mr. Night hasn’t solved every problem we’ve had, but it has added to the enjoyment of our evening.

“Each page is illustrated with with gorgeous images of Mr. Night and the things that sleep in the dark. The flowers, the birds, the animals, the sea and eventually a little boy. All the things that go bump in the night are gently calmed by Mr. Night and in the end Mr. Night finally falls asleep as the sun rises in the morning. Dan Yaccarino has made bedtime a soothing and restful time of day, making many of the fears little ones have seem like whispers in the night made by a wonderful character who’s lulling you to sleep.

“A lovely book and one every home with toddlers should contain. It makes bedtime easier and even occasionally…enjoyable.”

The1stdaughter Recommends: Ages 2-5. Parents will love the illustrations and kiddos will be soothed to bedtime with this delightful story.

For the comments: Do you have a good bedtime book that’s a go-to in your home? Or even one you remember from your own childhood?

Published by Tiger Tales

Pages: 18

Ages: 2-5

Summary: Smiley Shark loves to smile, but everyone is afraid of his big, sharp, toothy grin. Catfish, Starfish, and Octopus all swim away from Smiley Shark as fast as they can. His teeth are too scary! When all the fish are caught in a net, though, they need Smiley Shark’s help. A big smile is just what is needed to save the day!

“The Turkeybird here! I’m recovering well and happy to say I’m back to my good old laughing self. To be honest, the dentist was fabulous! But I’ll save that for another day. Today, my mom is letting me take over and recommend some books I think are just perfect for that guy or girl in your life who love to laugh and read. My choices had to be Ruth Galloway’s Smiley Shark and Fidgety Fish!

“Both of these books are great! Fidgety Fish is great because not only does Tiddler, the main character, squirm and wiggle as much as I do he also loves to explore. I love seeing new things and trying out fun new activities and Tiddler does too! Tiddler also finds out that in the end, being at home with mom can sometimes be the best place in the world. In Smiley Shark the shark longs to have a friend to play with, but because his smile is just a bit too big he scares people away. Sometimes I can be a little to excited to meet new friends too, but in the end both Smiley Shark and myself end up with great friends.

“Both of these books are fabulous! I would highly recommend them to your nearest 3 or 4 year old, they will love all the wiggling, squirming, and teeth grinning.”
