We all leave our “footprint” on the world, in one way or another. We each, individually, do something or are someone that makes the world a little better just by being here. I created this weekly meme to get to know the blogging community I love just a bit better. To know what makes them tick, outside of books, that is. Each week I will post a question to be answered in the following week’s “A Bit of Me(Me)”. Check back each Saturday to get the info for next week’s post and link up with your current post right here.
I know, some of you are skeptical about putting yourself out there on the internet and I completely respect that. That’s the entire reason I have no desire to ever reveal the “real” names of The Turkeybird and Littlebug. In time, once they’re old enough, if they chose to do that on their own I will respect their decision. So, if ever during the time I’m doing this meme do you feel the question is just too personal for your liking, feel free to post something else, I never want anyone to feel uncomfortable with what they share and I promise it will always be “kid-friendly”. I mean, this is a primarily children’s and young adult site, you know?
So, let’s get started!
This Weeks Question: What’s one activity you’re looking forward to or that you’ve already done this summer?
This was a bit premeditated in my asking due to the fact that we just got back from a fantastic trip to Waterton in Alberta Canada. I needed a day to share a bit about the trip and thought it would be great chance to see what everyone else was up to as well. So, I can’t wait to see where and what everyone’s summers have been like!

Our trip was wonderful! I’d never been to Canada at all, but my husband grew up going there every three years and I was pretty eager to see what the fuss was all about. It was gorgeous! From beautiful lakes to waterfalls and every type of wildlife you can imagine, I loved it!

As for the kiddos, one of their favorite things to do was to go to the lake and throw rocks into it. The Turkeybird especially wanted to do this whenever there was a lull in activities, though I have to warn you…step back a bit when he’s chucking those rocks in! There were quite a few times with he nearly pummeled someone in the side of the head with a rock by only an inch of space between them. Eeck! He definitely gets points for enthusiasm!

One of the days my hubby and his brothers went on an all day hike to lake in the top of a mountain called Crypt Lake. It’s a tradition to get to the top and jump into the lake that has an actual glacier in it! Well, this year they were a little disappointed when they discovered the lake was frozen in the section they’d normally jump in. Regardless, they had a great time!

Other than those few things we also were able to take a hike with the kiddos to some pretty spectacular waterfalls. Unfortunately, the Turkeybird wasn’t so thrilled about having his picture take there…

But we still had fun all the same! The very best and possibly most frightening part of the trip was the day the kiddos, myself and Papa went on a hike where we saw a total of four bears! Three were a momma bear and her two cubs, but the last was a bear that stood looking at me with only about 30 feet in distance between us. Needless to say I didn’t get any pictures!

We had a blast and on our way home we were also able to squeeze in some time in Utah with family and friends. In fact, I was able to meet up with some girlfriends from our law school days and also see a great friend from when we were first married, Natasha from Maw Books Blog & her boys. We had a bit of a scare when we lost the Turkeybird at one point, but thankfully a wonderful woman found him and brought him back to me. He told us later he was just running to show his Dad something, but forgot to tell Dad and just ran away. It was a terrifying experience, but I’m forever grateful for the stranger (whom I never met) who found him. Even with all of that, it was fantastic to see Natasha and my other friends again especially since the last time we saw each other none of our kiddos were very mobile. Also, funny to note, when Natasha and I knew each other originally, neither of us had a book blog…imagine that?!

All in all, a fabulous trip! We had a blast and are really looking forward to going back, especially when the kiddos are bigger and we can get out even more. This has definitely been a summer to remember!

Now, your turn! Link up below and tell everyone “A Bit of You!”
Next Week’s Question: Do you have a favorite holiday? Which one?
Have a question to add? I’d love some suggestions! Just leave them in the comments and I’ll see about adding them in as we go!
Also, feel free to grab either of the buttons for your own “A Bit of Me(Me)” post (or create your own), but make sure to link back to There’s A Book. (You can also resize these down to a smaller size if you’d like.)
